Located on a steep, forested hillside in Artvin, SMD House is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of regional mountain architecture. The building follows the natural topography, settling into the landscape rather than dominating it. Its fragmented roof geometry responds to slope, views, and daylight, creating a dynamic yet cohesive silhouette within the surrounding greenery.

Generous overhangs and deep terraces extend interior spaces outward, framing panoramic views while providing protection from intense rainfall and seasonal shifts. The structural expression combines exposed steel elements with warm timber surfaces, establishing a balance between robustness and material tactility.

Inside, a restrained palette of wood, stone, and neutral tones defines a calm spatial atmosphere. Double-height glazing and carefully positioned openings maximise natural light and visual continuity with the landscape.

Artvin SMD House is designed as a retreat embedded in nature—where structure, material, and site operate as a unified architectural system.
