An Unfolding Journey, selected as part of the International Architecture Biennial of Antalya (IABA) Open Call, is a 2.7 metre-tall vertical installation drawing on historic migration routes through Antalya and the spatial memory of Yörük culture. The project reinterprets principles of lightness, portability, and adaptability rooted in nomadic life.
Responding to the theme In Between, the installation bridges cultural heritage and contemporary fabrication by combining traditional material knowledge with computational design processes. A modular system made from felt produced with recycled PET and polyester fibers is transformed into self-supporting forms through origami-inspired folding techniques, enabling rapid assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration.
Through its foldable structure and sustainable material strategy, An Unfolding Journey explores mobility, transformation, and continuity as both cultural and architectural conditions.
